Ian has well over 30 years’ experience within the electricity industry where he has worked within Supply and Generation.
Immediately prior to becoming an Associate Consultant for Energy Potential Limited, Ian worked for International Power in the UK and remained with the company as it was taken over by GDF Suez (now known as Engie). Most recently his role was Director of Origination and Trading, which involved heading a conventional power and gas term trading team and also developing, negotiating and operating trading services agreements with a wide range of customers. These included renewable and thermal generators, and a full range of power and gas retail companies. He has also significant involvement with large and small offshore and onshore wind Power Purchase Agreements (PPA’s).

Ian’s key skill lies in negotiating contracts, often involving the arrangement of bespoke credit and payment terms and conditions. He is at home negotiating with senior managers in external companies as well as internal stakeholders. He is tenacious with good presentation skills, which has helped in successfully completing a large number of complex deals.
